Why are blacks dying in the Covid-19 pandemic at significantly higher rates than whites?

Communities of color have been hit much harder by Covid-19 than white communities. There are many reasons for this and we will be covering these reasons to better understand how systemic racism works and the consequences for our society.

As of April 6,2020, Louisiana is composed of 32% of blacks and account for 70% of the deaths. In Illinois blacks make up 15% of the population and42% of the deaths. This pattern is consistant across the country.
